SD Wind Energy are looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our business at Stewarton.  This is an excellent opportunity where your role will play a key part in the day-to-day operations based in our workshop. 

  • Job title: Welder/Fabricator
  • Job type: Full-time, Permanent

Key responsibilities

  • Design, Fabricate and manufacture metal parts for later assembly
  • Cutting materials into the required shapes, checking dimensions and thicknesses
  • Welding or joining metal and other materials into a wide range of structures
  • Operating tools and machinery and welding equipment
  • Produce strong, clean welds
  • Test output to ensure strength and tolerance of welds with precision measuring instruments
  • Follow Engineering plans, blueprints, instructions to ensure exact specifications of output
  • General fabricating shop duties
  • Cleaning tools, equipment and work areas
  • Ensure all duties carried out to Company Health and Safety Policy and Guidelines

The successful candidate

It is essential that the successful candidate has:

  • Competent Welding experience
  • Competence in using cutting/burning equipment
  • Knowledge of Mild and Stainless Fabrications
  • Experience using MIG is expected and whilst in date codings are preferred, they would not be mandatory as long as the candidate can demonstrate previous codings as well as carry out weld tests prior to any offer being made
  • Should be a hard worker, able to work on your own initiative with the ability to read and understand fabrication and technical/engineering drawings
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually on their own initiative as required
  • A flexible approach to working hours and willingness to work overtime to meet the needs of the business where and when required
